The Church's Response To War
This message confronts one of the most challenging questions we face as believers: what does Scripture say about war and government authority? Drawing from Romans 13:1-4, we discover that rulers have a divine mandate to be God's servants to do good and wielding the sword against evil to protect their people. But this isn't a blanket endorsement of every government action. The critical context is that we submit to authorities when they function as God's servants doing good, not when they serve evil. Yet here's where it gets personal for us: we live in an information fog, bombarded by media narratives we cannot fully trust, facing conflicts whose true purposes remain hidden. Our responsibility isn't to have all the answers or to be armchair generals. Instead, we're called to watch and pray, lifting holy hands like Moses did during Israel's battle with the Amalekites. When Moses' hands were raised, Israel prevailed. Our prayers are our warfare, our intercession is our authority, and our seeking truth is our duty. This is how we participate in the spiritual battle that undergirds every conflict.
