Out of Egypt, Into the Promise

Jan 24, 2026    Joe Cusumano

This powerful message takes us deep into the Exodus narrative, revealing a truth that cuts to the heart of our spiritual journey: God can deliver us from our Egypt in a single night, but getting Egypt out of us is a lifelong process. We explore the remarkable story of the Israelites who witnessed miracle after miracle—the plagues, the parted Red Sea, manna from heaven—yet found themselves romanticizing their slavery when the wilderness became uncomfortable. Their craving for Egyptian onions and meat over God's provision exposes a pattern we all recognize in ourselves: the tendency to long for familiar bondage over unfamiliar freedom. The wilderness wasn't punishment; it was preparation. God was detoxing their hearts from slavery, testing what was truly inside them. Their repeated sins of grumbling, unbelief, testing God, and refusing to trust His promises cost an entire generation their inheritance. They saw the promised land but never entered it. This isn't just ancient history—it's a mirror held up to our own hearts. What parts of our 'Egypt' are we still carrying? What old mindsets, fears, or toxic patterns are we clinging to because they feel safer than stepping into God's promises? The call for 2026 is clear: advance into the promised land by letting God complete His work of transformation in us, trusting that He who began this good work will be faithful to finish it.
