The Mind Of Christ

March 1, 2020 | By: Shawn White |

The Church of Corinth had it all wrong. They thought spirituality and maturity were based in how much knowledge one had. The church was full of arguments, jealousy, strife and division. So the Apostle Paul has to bring them back to basics. The “Mind of Christ” has nothing to do with our understanding of worldly wisdom. In fact, the mindset of Jesus isn’t about feeling superior, but about humility. The Mind of Christ, which we are encouraged to grab a hold of, starts when we see ourselves as a Servant to others.

Moralism Will Kill You

February 23, 2020 | By: Shawn White | Scripture: Luke 7:36-50

We are great at complicating things. When things become complicated we end up missing the message. The gospel is a message of love but often is presented as performance and moralism. When the message is presented wrong the Author of the message becomes misunderstood. There is a stark difference between Christ like morality and religious morality. Faith was never meant to be about correct behavior and moral merit badges. Faith is always about growing in a dynamic relationship with a God of Love.

Church & Politics (Part II)

February 16, 2020 | By: Phil Wedderburn-Maxwell |

This is an election year and because of that division can occur in society as people become fearful of what the future holds. The church is full of so many different perspectives and it is important that we honor the perspectives of others. Where you sit determines where you stand. The church is called to love in spite of our differences. Lets value and protect the unity in the church as we move into this election year.

The Church And Politics

February 9, 2020 | By: Phil Wedderburn-Maxwell |

"Where you sit determines where you stand. Have an eternal perspective so you don't get caught up in the mundane. Look at everything from a heavenly vantage point. Politics are temporary but the Kingdom of God is eternal. Always follow the law of Christ which is the law of love." - Pastor Phil

The Hand You're Dealt

February 7, 2020 | By: Shawn White | Scripture: Colossians 1:11-20

Where does God's will end and our responsibility begin? Sometimes we blame God for things that He is innocent of. It's like a poker game. God dealt you a hand but you have a responsibility to play your hand well and to realize that the way you play affects others at the table. God will test and refine us. He will allow in His wisdom what He could easily prevent by His power if He knows it is good for you. Sometimes the reason why bad things happen that we have no control over had nothing to do with God's will and was really about other people playing their hand wrong.

Game Changer

January 26, 2020 | By: Shawn White |

There is always a fight for perspective in moments of loss. How you see this world and the difficulties we face can redirect the story of our lives. A well known character from the Bible, David, faced incredible loss but instead of magnifying his problem, he took strength in Who God is and What God does. Its this perspective that is the ultimate Game Changer.

Living Sacrifice

January 19, 2020 | By: Shawn White | Scripture: Romans 12:1-2

Faith, Hope and Love are not just a condition of the heart they are the lenses through which God desires you to see this world. When the Apostle Paul writes to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice (Romans 12:1-2) He is mainly referring to all that is taking place inside of you because where the battles rages the the most is in your mind. The biggest battles we face are never external they are always internal because the the biggest victories God is preparing you for are not around you but within you.
