It doesn’t matter if you have never been to church before, we are confident that you will feel right at home.
Our services are pretty simple. We like to kick it off with some music. The band will lead us in a few songs. Afterwards, one of our MCs will greet everyone and let you know about all the fun and exciting things that are taking place at Gateway. Pastor Shawn will come up and share an encouraging message and then we will close the service with one final song.
After a visit you are going to love coming to church! We hope to see you soon!
Our service starts at 10:30 on Sunday mornings!
We believe that God is a loving Father and there is absolutely nothing that you can do
that will separate you from His love. It doesn’t matter who you are or what you’ve done,
God’s love for you never fails. This love was demonstrated at the cross when Jesus
died to establish a new covenant of forgiveness. And when the reality of God’s love
becomes understood it transforms our lives. (Romans 8:38-39, 1 John 4:16, John 3:16)
We believe that Jesus Christ in the Son of God. He was born of a virgin and came with the mission of making the Father known. If we truly want to get to know the Father, we always need to look at the Son because Jesus is the exact imprint of God’s nature. He died on the cross setting humanity free from the power of sin and rose to life on the third day. All who believe in Him receives the gift of life that He offers to everyone. (John 1:16-18, John 14:9, 2 Corinthians 3:15-16, Colossians 1:15, Hebrews 1:3)
We believe the Holy Spirit comes and resides in the heart of everyone who believes in Jesus and He can come upon us in great power through His baptism. Jesus said that we would do greater works in His name because He was going to the Father and was sending the Holy Spirit. We believe at Pentecost, God poured His Spirit out and today miracles and signs and wonders can be part of every believers life.
We believe that the most important thing about your life is the way you see and understand God. Your view of God will shape your values. This view will shape the way you think, interact with others, work, play and see the world. Your view of God is the
lens through which you will interpret this life. Real freedom isn’t living however you want to live, but living according to the designs that God has placed upon our lives. This begs the question, “Who is God?” Jesus said in John 8:32 that “the truth will set you free.” It is the truth of who God is that sets people free which is why your view of God matters!
In Matthew 16:13-19 Jesus asked His disciples an important question: “Who do you say that I am?” We believe it is an important question for us today. Peter declared that Jesus was “the Christ, the Son of the Living God.” When Peter answered this way, Jesus told Peter that he was blessed for having this revelation and on the rock or on the revelation of who Jesus is that His church is being built. The worldwide church needs to be built on the revelation of who Jesus is. Its this reality that shapes the life of every person and brings freedom to their lives. This movement will not fail, and as the world continues to grab a hold of this reality we will see heaven being released upon the earth. As the church, our job is to impact and influence the world in the areas of our authority and responsibility with the culture of heaven.
We believe that Salvation is through Jesus Christ alone. No one is perfect. We all have our own struggles, but it is the relationship we enter into with Jesus that brings hope and freedom to every person. Everything we struggle with in this life matters because it is preparing us for the life to come. There are three eternal qualities that God loves to see developed in His children: Faith, Hope and Love (1 Corinthians 13:13). However, scripture shows us that faith requires a fight (2 Timothy 4:7). Hope is more than just wishful thinking. Hope is a positive mental expectation for good. So in order to practice hope we need hopeless situations. And when it comes to love; it’s easy to love people who have loved you in return, but forgiving people who have hurt you can be hard. So faith requires a fight. Hope requires hopeless situations. And Love requires enemies. It seems that this world is perfect for developing those qualities within us. However, all of this is a work of grace that God does in our lives as we continue to respond to Him.
In John 17:3 Jesus prays, “And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” Eternal life is not a reference to heaven but is about having a relationship with Jesus Christ right now. In Christianity today we have made the essence of our faith about going somewhere (heaven), but Jesus made this faith all about relationship with someone (God). So much of today’s culture makes Christianity all about a destination and not about the journey. Eternal life is really a reference to the journey of faith we are all a part of in getting to know and relate to a wonderful God of love.
The Bible is God’s covenant story with humanity. Throughout the scriptures we see ordinary men and women doing extraordinary things as they responded to the call of God upon their lives. Each story can and will speak to our own stories today and reveals the heart of God towards the creation He loves so much.
